How Much Is a Transfer from Picton to Sydney Airport?

Picton pays a fixed $235 one way for one or two passengers, and the price moves in steps as the group grows rather than by the kilometre or the clock.

PassengersVehicleFixed fare (one way)Typical booking
1–2Sedan$235couples and solo travellers
3Kia Carnival$260a family of three with cases
4Kia Carnival$260four adults, luggage included
5People Mover$280school-holiday family trips
6People Mover$280two households travelling together
7Minibus$305extended family departures
8Minibus$305cruise parties with full luggage
9Minibus$385wedding guests moving as one
10Minibus$385sports and work groups
11Minibus$385the maximum in a single vehicle

The bands come in pairs — three costs what four costs, five what six costs — so an extra passenger is often free. Eleven people at $385 is about $35 a head, which no other option out of Picton gets close to. No advance payment and no card hold — you pay on the day of travel. Fares reviewed August 2026.

Is the shorter WSI run cheaper? Usually — each suburb has its own published fare to Western Sydney, so you get a real number the moment you ask, instead of a callback with a calculation. Picton pays $235 to Kingsford Smith, $185 to Badgerys Creek and $275 to either cruise wharf.

What the drive really looks like

How Long Is the Drive to Sydney Airport?

Allow about 1 hr 7 min for the 78 km. We climb Argyle Street and run out along Remembrance Driveway to the Hume interchange at Pheasants Nest, then hold the motorway north to the M5 and finish east through the tunnel.

The Hume itself is rarely the problem. It is the last twelve kilometres that decide the trip — the M5 East tunnel and General Holmes Drive can add a quarter of an hour in the weekday morning peak, which is exactly the window most Picton flights depart in. We put that allowance in your pickup time rather than in a hopeful arrival estimate.

Coming the other way, the westbound M5 East is a different road: evening traffic out of the city thins by about seven and the Hume runs clear to Pheasants Nest. The last stretch down Remembrance Driveway is where you notice you are home — the temperature drops a few degrees as the road descends toward Stonequarry Creek. Details of that leg are on the Sydney Airport to Picton page.

Working back from your boarding pass

What Time Should You Leave for a Morning Flight?

Two hours at the terminal for an international departure, ninety minutes for a domestic one, then the 67-minute drive and an allowance for the tunnel. These are the pickup times that come out of it.

6:00am international

At your door about 2:53am. Picton pickups skew early for a reason: the Southern Highlands line does not start moving until well after five, which is no use at all for a 6am departure.

6:00am domestic

Around 3:23am for T2 or T3. The driver pulls into the drive rather than the kerb on the older streets around the creek flat, where there is no street lighting to speak of.

9:00am international

Around 5:53am, which clears the M5 East before the weekday peak thickens it.

Use these as a starting point and send the flight number when you book — school terms, long weekends and roadworks on Remembrance Driveway all shift the exact minute, and we would rather set it against the real day than a table.

Two airports, two fixed fares

Is Western Sydney Airport (WSI) Closer to Picton?

Comfortably. Picton sits at the southern end of the shire, so WSI is not the automatic winner it is around Camden — but thirty-one kilometres and nineteen minutes is a real difference, and the route skips the M5 East entirely.

Picton has a station — is rail the better option?

What Is the Cheapest Way to Get to Sydney Airport?

Picton is on the Southern Highlands line, so this comparison deserves doing properly rather than being waved away.

OptionTypical cost (2 adults)Door to terminalWhat it actually involves
Private transfer (us)$235 fixed~1 hr 7 min, door to doorone vehicle, your luggage at the door, any hour of the day or night
Train via CampbelltownOpal fares plus $18.61 station access fee eachabout 2 hrs, when it runsSouthern Highlands services are infrequent and mostly terminate at Campbelltown, so it is a change plus a wait; the first train of the day leaves far too late for a dawn flight, and the last one is long gone by the time an evening international lands
Rideshare or taximetered, and surge-dependent~1 hr 7 min if a car acceptsthin supply this far south, especially before sunrise, and a 78 km fare back to the valley late at night is one most drivers decline
Drive and parkfuel and tolls plus from about $190 a week in budget long-stay parking~1 hr 7 min plus the car park shuttlereasonable for two people on a short trip — less so once you count the pre-dawn self-drive, the car park shuttle and a fortnight of fees

The station access fee is Transport for NSW's published charge for entering or leaving an airport rail station; parking figures are Sydney Airport's advertised long-stay rates at the time of writing — check both before you decide. Rail is a genuine option from Picton for one person with hand luggage on a mid-morning flight. It stops being one the moment there are two of you with cases, a 6am departure, or an arrival after the last service.

Where the fare bands pay off

Group & Family Transfers

Shuttle interior with child seats — airport transfers from Picton

Nine, ten and eleven passengers all travel for the same $385 in one minibus — about $35 a seat against three cars, three sets of parking or three separate rideshare fares. Extended families, sports teams and friends flying out together all book this way.

Luggage decides the vehicle more often than headcount does, so give us the bag count as well as the number of people — Picton's cruise bookings in particular arrive with more cases than seats. Child restraints are fitted before the vehicle leaves and cost nothing, provided we have the ages at booking rather than at the door.

Compared honestly

Private Transfer vs Uber or Taxi

Supply thins south of Campbelltown

A rideshare may appear in Picton on a Saturday morning. At three on a Tuesday it very often does not, and that is precisely when the flights leave. A booked car is confirmed the day before, with the driver's details sent to you.

A meter over 78 km is a gamble

Distance pricing on a run this long swings with the traffic and with demand, and the M5 East is where it swings hardest. Our $235 is set when you book and does not move, tolls and GST included.

The return leg is the real test

Passengers who have tried to improvise the trip home from the airport once tend to book it the second time. A good share of our Picton work is return legs booked by people who drove themselves out.

Drivers who know the valley

Which way out of town is quicker on a given morning, and when the tunnel starts to bank up, is knowledge that comes from driving it weekly rather than following a map app.

Picton to Sydney Airport: Your Questions Answered

How much is an airport shuttle from Picton to Sydney Airport?

A fixed $235 one way for one or two passengers. Three or four pay $260, five or six $280, seven or eight $305, and nine through eleven all travel for $385 in one minibus. Tolls, GST, child seats and one suitcase plus one carry-on per passenger are inside every one of those figures.

What is the cheapest way to get from Picton to Sydney Airport?

For one person with hand luggage on a mid-morning flight, the train via Campbelltown can undercut us. For two or more people, anyone with checked bags, and anything leaving before dawn, the fixed $235 car is cheaper in practice and close to an hour quicker door to door.

How long does the drive from Picton to Sydney Airport take?

About 1 hr 7 min for the 78 km — Argyle Street to Remembrance Driveway, the Hume from Pheasants Nest, then the M5 and the tunnel. Allow up to an hour and twenty-five minutes if you are travelling through the weekday morning peak.

What time do you pick up for a 6am international flight?

About 2:53am. We target the terminal two hours before an international departure and ninety minutes before a domestic one, then work back through the drive and a tunnel allowance. Send the flight number and we will set the exact minute.

Can I take the train station to the airport instead?

You can, with a change at Campbelltown, but Southern Highlands services are infrequent and the airport stations charge an $18.61 access fee per adult on top of the Opal fare. Best case is around two hours, the first service is far too late for an early flight, and the last one has gone before most evening internationals land.

Is parking at the airport cheaper than a transfer?

Sometimes on paper. Budget long-stay parking starts around $190 a week, so for two people on a short trip it can undercut a return transfer once fuel and tolls are counted. Over a longer holiday, with a group, or with a 3am departure, the transfer usually wins on both cost and trouble.

Do you pick up anywhere?

Anywhere in the valley. Most addresses are straightforward; the older streets around the creek flat have deep front setbacks and little street lighting, so the driver will come up the drive rather than wait at the kerb unless you ask otherwise.

Is Western Sydney Airport closer than Kingsford Smith?

By a wide margin. WSI is 47 km and about 48 min from Picton against 78 km and 1 hr 7 min to Sydney Airport, and the route avoids the M5 East entirely. The fare is $235 to either.

How many people fit in one vehicle?

Eleven, with luggage, for a flat $385 — roughly $35 a seat. Nine, ten and eleven are priced identically, so a couple of extra guests cost nothing beyond the seats they occupy.

Is a private transfer better value than Uber or a taxi?

Usually, and availability tends to settle it before price does. Rideshare coverage is thin south of Campbelltown, particularly before dawn and for the long fare home late at night, while a metered price over 78 km moves with the traffic. Ours is agreed before you travel.

Is there a deposit, or do I pay anything up front?

Neither. No advance payment and no card held at booking. You pay on the day of travel by card, cash or PayID, and we email a tax invoice afterwards if you want one.

What happens if my flight lands late?

Nothing on your side. The flight number is tracked, so the pickup moves with the aircraft at no extra cost — an hour of free waiting at T1 and forty minutes at T2 and T3, counted from touchdown rather than the timetable.

Are child seats available on transfers?

Yes, and included rather than charged for. Capsules, forward-facing seats and boosters are fitted before the vehicle leaves, so we need the children's ages when you book.

Do you run in the middle of the night?

Every night of the year. Pre-dawn departures and last-arrival collections are ordinary work in this valley — it is the booking that makes them reliable, not the hour.

Which suburbs nearby do you also cover?

Tahmoor, Thirlmere, Couridjah, Pheasants Nest, Bargo, Avon, Buxton and Yanderra along this corridor, plus all 75 suburbs across Wollondilly Shire, Macarthur and the Southern Highlands.
