Appin transfers at a glance

Wollondilly Airport Shuttle meets arriving passengers at Sydney Airport and drives them home to Appin (NSW 2560) — a fixed-fare private transfer, not a shared shuttle. The driver waits in the P7 Rideshare Pickup Area at T1, or in the priority pickup area at T2 and T3, and the fare is $179 one way for one or two passengers, rising to $389 for eleven in one vehicle. It is 62 km from the terminal to the Appin shops on Appin Road, about 1 hr 1 min. The flight number is tracked from wheels-down, so a late arrival simply shifts the Appin pickup: an hour of free waiting at T1, forty minutes at T2 and T3, and no charge either way. Nothing is payable in advance. Book it with your outbound trip and the whole thing is settled in one message. Quote on 0427 143 612.

The drive home

How Long Does It Take to Get from Sydney Airport to Appin?

Allow about 1 hr 1 min for the 62 km from the terminal to the Appin shops on Appin Road. Off the M5 at Campbelltown and south on Appin Road. By night the mine and truck traffic that makes this road slow in the daytime has largely gone, which makes the evening run considerably better than the morning one.

Westbound is the easier direction. The M5 East thins out through the evening, and by about seven the run out of the city is clear — which is why an arrival drive often takes less time than the same trip in the morning.

If you are flying out rather than in, the leave-by times and departure fares are on the Appin to Sydney Airport page.

Delays, diversions and late nights

What Happens If My Flight Lands Late?

Timetables are optimistic and aircraft are not. The booking watches the flight rather than the clock, so here is exactly what each kind of disruption means for you.

International arrivals

An hour of free waiting at T1, counted from the moment the aircraft is on the ground. However far the flight slips, the pickup slips with it at no cost.

Domestic arrivals

Forty minutes from touchdown at T2 and T3, measured from the actual landing rather than the timetable. Domestic bags come off faster and the allowance reflects that.

Diverted or cancelled

A diversion or a cancellation is a phone call, not a problem. We reschedule, and because there is no advance payment there is nothing to claw back.

Book with the flight number rather than a time and the whole arrival becomes something you no longer have to think about.

Meeting points, terminal by terminal

Where Your Appin Driver Waits, Terminal by Terminal

Shuttle trunk filled with equipment — Sydney Airport transfers to Appin
T1 International

Clear customs and walk out into the arrivals hall. Your driver is waiting in the Rideshare Pickup Area inside P7, opposite T1 arrivals, and will take the cases from there to the vehicle.

T2 / T3 Domestic

T2 and T3 work the other way round: you text from the baggage hall, and the vehicle is in the priority pickup area by the time you reach the doors.

Straight to your door

Then it is one run to your door with nobody else in the vehicle and nothing else on the itinerary. Properties strung along Appin Road with limited stopping. Give us the number and we will approach from the side that lets the driver pull clear.

Getting home from the terminal

What Is the Cheapest Way Home from Sydney Airport to Appin?

Worth reading before you fly rather than after you land, because the options look very different at 11pm.

Drive and parkfuel and tolls plus from about $190 a week in budget long-stay parking~1 hr 1 min plus the car park shuttleonly works if you drove yourself out and left the car there — and it means finding the car park shuttle after a long flight before you can start driving

The station access fee is Transport for NSW's published charge for entering or leaving an airport rail station — check the current figure before you rely on it. The honest summary for an arrival into Appin: rail can work in daylight with hand luggage, and stops working entirely once the flight is late, the bags are checked, or the last service has gone.

Landing as a group

Arriving as a Group? One Vehicle Meets You

Travelers conversing in mini bus — Sydney Airport transfers to Appin

Eleven arriving passengers are met by one vehicle for $389 — about $35 a seat, against three separate taxis from the rank at whatever the meter says. Extended families, sports teams and friends landing together all book this way.

Flight number, passengers, bags. If the party is arriving on two different aircraft, that is not a problem, but tell us which you want for the Appin run: one vehicle waiting for the second flight, or two separate pickups.

The rank, honestly

The Taxi Rank, Honestly: What It Costs You to Appin

The queue peaks with the arrival bank

Ranks empty out mid-afternoon and clog when the widebodies land together, which is usually when you are standing in it.

A 62 km meter has no ceiling

Traffic, roadworks and the hour all move a metered fare of this length. None of them move ours.

Long fares get turned down

Drivers at the front of a rank are not obliged to love a run this far out at 1am. A booked vehicle has already agreed to it.

Why book the arrival

Six Reasons to Book the Appin Leg Before You Leave

The car is booked before you board

Nothing to arrange while you are tired, holding bags and looking for signal. It is on the sheet before you leave home.

Meet and greet, not a scavenger hunt

Your name at the meeting point beats trying to find a pickup zone in a terminal you may not know well.

Free waiting built in

An hour from touchdown at T1 and forty minutes at T2 and T3, timed from the real landing and included in the fare.

No advance payment

There is nothing to pay in advance and no card taken. You settle with the driver at the door on the day — card, cash or PayID — and a tax invoice is emailed if asked for.

Child restraints ready

Capsules, forward-facing seats and boosters fitted before the vehicle leaves for the terminal, at no extra cost.

Any hour, all year

Midnight arrivals, public holidays and the last flight of the night are ordinary work when the booking is in.

Arrival questions

Sydney Airport to Appin: Your Questions Answered

What does the run from Sydney Airport to Appin cost?

Between $179 and $389, decided by how many seats you need rather than by the traffic; set fees apply for pickups before 6am or after 8pm. It is the outbound fare plus the $10 airport pickup fee, and any time-of-day fee.

Where will my driver be waiting when I land?

Walk out of customs at T1 and the driver taking you to Appin is waiting in the Rideshare Pickup Area inside P7. At T2 and T3 there is no hall to wait in, so you message once you have your bag and the car pulls into the priority area for the run out to Appin.

How long is the drive from Sydney Airport to Appin?

Roughly 1 hr 1 min to cover 62 km. Evening arrivals usually run clean once past the airport tunnel, since the heavy traffic on the M5 East is heading the opposite way.

What happens if my flight is delayed?

It costs you nothing. The booking is tied to the flight number, not a time you nominated, so the driver simply leaves later. Sixty minutes of free waiting applies at T1 and forty at the domestic terminals, timed from the real landing rather than the schedule you booked against.

Is there a cancellation fee if the airline changes my flight?

Tell us the new flight number and the job moves with it. Nothing was taken at booking, so a cancellation costs you exactly nothing.

Do I have to pay before I fly?

No, and no pre-authorisation either. Payment happens at the end of the trip, at your door, in whichever of card, cash or PayID suits you at your Appin address.

Can you take me straight to my door?

Yes. One vehicle, your party only, from the terminal to the address. Properties strung along Appin Road with limited stopping. Give us the number and we will approach from the side that lets the driver pull clear.

Can I get by public transport from the terminal?

Only partway. Douglas Park or Menangle is the practical limit, the airport station access fee is $18.61 a head on top of the Opal fare, and the remaining distance is a pickup you would have to arrange anyway.

Why not just join the taxi queue when I land?

Usually, and the difference is worst on the bad nights. When several long-haul flights land together the rank slows right down, and a 62 km fare out of the city is one plenty of drivers would rather not take. A booked car is already waiting and already priced.

Can you pick up from Western Sydney International?

Yes — at that airport's own published fare. The fare there is $149 for one or two, with the same included waiting and the same drive to your address.

What is the largest group you can meet off one flight?

One minibus takes eleven and their bags for $389 — about $35 per seat against three taxis at whatever the meters say. Two flights, two options: hold, or run separately.

Can you fit a capsule or booster for the drive home?

Yes, at no cost. Capsules, forward-facing seats and boosters are fitted before the vehicle leaves for the terminal, so we need the children's ages when you book rather than when you land.

Is there a night service out?

Every night of the year, including the last arrivals. Appin's working population travels at every hour, so late arrivals are routine for us here.

Is there a cut-off for booking an arrival transfer?

A day or two is plenty outside the busy weeks; over Christmas and school holidays give us more for a Appin run. The easiest approach is to book both legs together when you arrange the departure.

What if I am out before the driver arrives?

Send a text. Often the car is already on site and it is a couple of minutes; if not, you get a real number of minutes rather than a vague reassurance about the Appin run.

Do you serve the towns as well?

Menangle, Douglas Park, Cataract, Darkes Forest among them, and every other suburb in Wollondilly, Macarthur and the Southern Highlands — seventy-five in all, each separately priced.
